From what I've read here, 2000mg per day is definitely on the higher end of dosages, especially to start with, but it's not crazy here.
I'd say listen to your body first and foremost, and if you feel bad or it's uncomfortable for you, drop down to 500mg-1000mg for a few weeks and slowly build back up.
