Mine came from the Richmeister, a recurring character on SNL in the 90's.

My childhood nickname was "Ali". Later a friend with a speech problem called me "Owl". And then my level 60 character in City of Heroes was "Owlie"...so I am almost always Owlie where ever I post. The spelling was altered because I had password problems.
