Adding Pronouns Field?
#1

Hello,

It might be a pie in the sky idea, but perhaps a pronouns field could be added to display underneath a member's post count/threads or something? I know we can add a custom user title, as well as there being a sex marker in a member's profile page, but maybe that isn't as intuitive for someone who isn't very familiar with the site?

Not a bad idea, to be honest.

I think the custom title works pretty well right out of the box, but it's pretty hidden in the User Control Panel so maybe it should be mentioned in a "How to use this site" thread?

I wonder if there is a way to add a sticky (and locked) thread with some quick guidelines, etiquette, tech notes, etc... in the main forum page. The Help section is helpful but people usually don't use to discover new functionalities unless they have a problem with the existing ones.

i agree, the custom title is probably the easiest way to just put the info there, i use it for pronouns cos its near to the rest of the user info so easy to find when someone is replying.

i think if a new field was to be added, it'd be a full job. it needs a space in the database, the backend needs to know about it, and it needs to be built into each of the current forum themes. i dunno how the forum infrastructure is managed, but i don't think it's a small task by any means.

Good idea as this is Englishspeaking forum and there's gazillion people with different native languages here. For me gendered pronouns are mostly meaningless as it doesn't exist in Finnish, but to almost all others it makes sense. Avoids a whole lot of confusion if it can be added to the profile and having it always visible.

@Shirazmn-As far as I know, sticky/locked threads are possible (the admin posted one "About Breast Nexus" on 12-13-11). I agree adding a new one with more information would be very helpful, especially one that includes the terms of service (currently, the only way to access it is to log off the website and click on the registration button).

@nephele-I just added pronouns to my custom title.

Fair point about the technological demands to add a new field to the website. I'm not very tech-savvy in that regard.
